Jennifer Johnston died October 19, 2001 at age 17. A statement from Jennifer's mother: A young male new driver invited 2 females to go to Fraser Docks. Following another vehicle of friends, this male driver decided to pass his friend on a narrow industrial, non-passing road to beat him to the docks. While excessively speeding to show off, the driver lost control and slammed into a cement barrier pole. Jennifer was the female in the front passenger seat and she died instantly. The female passenger in the back seat suffered minor injuries. The driver walked away unharmed. Jennifer has been denied the rest of her life, including her graduation party. While others will be celebrating, her loved ones will still be mourning this huge loss. A young man sacrificed Jennifer's life to try and be cool while disobeying the safety rules of the road. Hopefully he can live the rest of his life with this on his conscience. Written by Karen Doucet |
