The Journey World was created to provide kids and their families with a way to make sense of their loss and grief. It is designed to facilitate the integration of their losses at these early developmental stages based on Dr. Alan Wolfelt’s Reconciliation Needs.

The project went through several tests using focus groups with kids and families as well as having kids explore the site on their own and providing us with their feedback. Our youngest tester was a 5 year old girl and the oldest was a 13 year old boy. Both used The Journey with ease.

There is no charge for kids and their families to use the site, but they must register with Griefworks BC before they can access it. We monitor the site using a variety of methods and have set up a system of flags that alert us to potential situations.

Professional service providers wishing to use the site in their work with children and families may do so by having the family register and then working closely with them. Your practice will be guided by your Code of Ethics.
